Hey Ry. I took this picture of you last week. I thought I could post something great about you eating nachos for lunch ... something like "Nachos for lunch? You betcha!" But somehow that has lost its appeal between then and now, so I sit here contemplating how to use this picture.
I do want to document your strange lunch schedule this year: You leave to catch the bus just before 7 am. It's still dark these days, and sometimes I wonder if it's really OK, sending you out the door each morning to walk to the bus stop in the dark. Is that really okay?
Anyway, you leave so early in the morning that you don't always have time or desire for breakfast. No big deal though since lunch is at 10:26. Yeah, 10:26 AM. Seems like a good time for kindergartners to be eating lunch, not so much you big 7th graders.
So some days you eat breakfast, and some days you don't. And some days you eat lunch, some days you don't. You generally eat something when you get home around 2:25. Here's where me thinking about this picture comes in: 2 days a week (Tuesday and Thursday), we have 35 - 40 minutes together, just you and me, before all the other kids get home from school. Usually I'm rushing to get something computer or cleaning related done before the little ones get home. But I'd like to start spending that time with you. Maybe we'll eat nachos together. Or maybe we'll just sit, and you'll talk to me like you used to, when I'd say, "Ry, sometimes Moms just need it to be quiet so they can think for a minute." I don't need so much time to think anymore; I'm ready to listen.

When I look at the picture, Ryan, I still think of that tiny baby we all adored. And guess what? We still adore you 12+ years later!
I was so excited to hear my first grandchild - YOU - learning to talk. (and sing- I'll never forget you singing "Brown Eyed Girl" over and over while I drove around and around and AROUND in the Jetta trying to find our way back to your new house after we had visited new baby Maddie in the hospital. You kept saying, "Play it again, Grandma," and I'd hit the replay button hoping to keep you occupied while I found the new house!)
You loved to talk to all of us when you were a little guy. Don't stop now - you have even more important things to share.
I love you - Grandma Lynn
