This is a very good day, and it goes like this:
Wake up early; open presents (clothing for the birthday girl ordered by the birthday girl).
Birthday breakfast at Megan's.
School.
Get checked out to get drivers license.
Check.
Pick up friends at school.
("Turns out it really IS embarrassing to drive a minivan to high school!")
Head home for birthday lunch. Very scary driving getting out of school parking lot at lunch time. Mom nearly has a panic attack.
Dad grills burgers for lunch.
Free time after lunch:
Checking Twitter
Looking at funny pictures of Maddie on Twitter
Tweeting funny things about Maddie on Twitter
Watching videos of Maddie posted on ...Twitter
Take some group photos
Drive friends back to school without Mom (!)
Mom takes Dad to work so there's an extra car at home.
Basketball practice.
Drive home; freshen up.
Mom runs Jack and Katie to their stuff.
Maddie picks up friends for dinner at Durangos.
Gas light in minivan is on. No money.
Meet mom at Durangos. Mom buys dinner and leaves to pick other kids up.
Drive friends home for dessert--brownies and ice-cream.
Blow out 16 candles.
Take friends out on the town in the minivan.
Get gas on Mom's credit card.
Decline to pick Dad up at work.
Mom picks up Dad at work.
Maddie's home at 11.
It's a good day.

You are a great mom Em! Sounds like a perfect 16th birthday! Katie got her license today...no one under 20 in the car for 1 year! Guess the 'out on the town in the minivan with friends' is going to have to wait! :)
