A Busy Week Documented

Monday, September 5
  • Labor Day--No School
  • Daddy golfing
  • 11:45 Pick Grandma Lynn up in Las Vegas
  • No soccer practice for Maddie

After I picked Grandma up at the air port we went shopping in Vegas. By the time we got home that afternoon, you all were clamoring to spend time with Grandma. All the big kids demonstrated their piano skills, so Katie got a lesson. She and Grandma have been playing duets all week.

Aren't her little hands cute playing the likes of Mary Had a Little Lamb and Old MacDonald?

Ryan and Mad, wasn't it great to have Grandma here to walk you through a real piano practice? I loved it.

Tuesday, September 6
  • Mom work 9 - 2 (incidentally, I had to fire someone--I hired her two weeks ago, and fired her today)
  • 2:30 Maddie Piano
  • 5:30 - 7 Jack Soccer
  • 5:45 Mom tutor
  • 6 Ry Piano
  • 7 YM/YW
Grandma Lynn stayed home and baked cookies and made dinner and worked on Katie's Christmas stocking (this year, Katie, This Year, thanks to Grandma, you'll have a matching stocking!)

Wednesday, September 7

Grandma and I cleaned out Jack's closet and dresser, went to lunch with Daddy, bought new baskets for Jack's closet, and did a quick Costco run. After school, the madness started:
  • 4:10 Maddie babysit the Hafens
  • 5 Katie's first soccer practice
  • 5:30 Jack soccer
  • 9 Butler Holdings meeting (I get to ichat with your uncles; we're supposed to talk business)

Katie got her uniform at practice! What could be cuter than a team of Pink Pirates?! And I got roped into, no, volunteered to be the assistant coach. Awesome.

And, Grandma made dinner.

Thursday, September 8
  • 8 am Jack piano (thankfully Grandma remembered or we would have missed Jack's lesson, again)
  • 9 -2 Mom work
  • Uncle Mark arrives with the kids
  • 5:30 Maddie soccer
  • 6:30 RS Activity
Grandma did some more shopping while I was at work and then she made dinner because Katie's tooth broke in half, so we had to make a trip to the dentist instead of dinner or the RS Activity.

Later, after Lucy went to bed, Charlie got to just hang with his cousins--here he is playing Maddie's ipod while she does homework.

Friday, September 9
  • 4 pm Mom and Dad go to Vegas
With almost nothing on the calendar and cooler weather moving in to town, we spent the morning on the back porch while the kids played

Luce was good on the wiggle cars

and Charlie was awesome in Jack's bike helmet with the broom and the Little Tykes car. He also pushed the lawn mower around, played with the tractors and dug in the sand--three of the reasons he "wuvs" Auntie Em's house.

LOVE show at The Mirage Las Vegas

That night Daddy and I went to see a show in Vegas to celebrate 17 years of wedded bliss.

You guys went to the park while Katie had practice.

And Grandma got pizza for dinner.

Saturday, September 10
  • 9 am Katie soccer game
  • get reward donuts for scripture bingo
  • Uncle Mark goes home
  • Sandberg Family Reunion
  • 3 pm Jack soccer game
It was a full day Saturday. Katie won her game (not that we were keeping score in a game with no official score and no goalies); she scored 4 goals! Jack won his game too, 4 to 3 against a team that used to be able to beat them substantially.

It was a full day, so we had leftovers for dinner and went to bed tired.

I guess Grandma would have to call coming to our house a "working vacation;" well, unless she wants a vacation from sitting and relaxing or quiet time at home, we know how to deliver that!

That was a fun week for me. I loved being a part of your daily craziness. Now why don't we live closer to each other?
