We had a hard time figuring out when to celebrate your birthday this year.
It was on a Wednesday which happened to be a short day at school, but you and Dad had decided to go to a Jazz game that evening, so there would be no time to celebrate that afternoon or evening.
Jack had another birthday party right after school, so we couldn't do it then.
Ryan and Dad were both gone Tuesday night, plus, the cake was not done.
What a conundrum!
Finally, we figured out Wednesday morning before Ryan left for the bus stop was our only chance--that meant getting up at 6 am to open presents!
We baked the cake Tuesday afternoon. Funfetti, per your request. (It is highly unusual that I make a boxed cake, but I have a secret crush on Funfetti, so I was happy!)
You decided you wanted your cake in the shape of a 10, so we made two round cakes, one 8x8 square, and some cupcakes.
We stacked the rounds, and cut them into a zero shape; cut the square cake into thirds, and stacked two of those pieces, then we frosted and, most importantly, sprinkled.
It felt a little like Christmas, watching you open presents in pajamas.
Not a bad thing...
You got a circle journal, card making kit, jamma pants (Grandma Lynn made them!), slipper socks, lots of new clothes, a big pack of Juicy Fruit (thanks Jack!), some tiny dogs (thanks Kate!), and a four pack of fake teeth (great gift, Ry!)
Birthday breakfast: Fruity Pebbles.
How lucky was it to have free dress day (and the start of a 10-day vacation) on your birthday?
(Nice teeth!)
At school you treated your class with cupcakes.
(The above pictured cupcake was specially made for your teacher by us. We had to buy the cupcakes we served the kids ... silly rules)
May your 11th year be every bit as good as the last 10.
We love you!

Looks like a really fun day! That cake turned out really, really cute!! Good idea Maddie, to make it in the shape of a 10!
What a great way to celebrate! When you start the party early in the morning, you can celebrate all day long. That's my idea of a proper birthday celebration!
