Why do I love thee so?
Here I sit with an empty bag, a full and slightly queasy stomach, feeling remorse dancing with the sugar in my brain, and wondering "Why?"
What is it about your three layers that compels me to attempt the perfect break each time? Victory! When I gently pull the middle orange section from the fat yellow base and find a depression there. In my mind's eye, I picture that yellow base whisking past on a conveyor belt, wobbling, naked for a short time until eagerly receiving the warm, gushy orange layer. Is it that glimpse into the past that compels me to eat one and then another and then another and then another . . . until I am somewhat queasy and wishing I could stop?
Perhaps it's the fact that you're now "MADE WITH REAL HONEY"?
Or is it the salt? Just enough salt (more than honey, actually) to counter the sweetness of your sugar and corn syrup? Maybe it's perfect combination of gelatin, dextrose, and sesame oil that creates your tricolor goodness, strong enough to maintain it's shape, but soft enough to bite easily.
Brach's Candy Corn, why do I love thee so? I may never know. It's time once again to say good bye. For another 12 months, you won't pass through my lips. But this time next year, we'll meet again. (Not in a bag of Autumn Mix, mind you, those pumpkins are just too big.) I'll take you and eat you, each piece individually, layer by layer, and then I'll wonder again, in my sugar induced stupor, why, why, why do I love these triangle candies so?
Faithfully yours,
Emily

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one controlled by candy. Only sometimes is it candy corn, but how does time go so quickly when one is eating the entire bag? I guess that is one of life's great mysteries. Happy Halloween to you!
That was cute! Aren't candy corn just so great, they are very yummy!
I do love for the fall time to come around! But I am always sucked into the autumn mix. I think it is going to be a great time and then- you hit the 1 too many and I am sick for the rest of the day!
